“I worked with the sun & the moon & the stars en route to composing a full first draft of my 13-piece memoir-in-essays.  As I engaged with the prompts and support that Emily provided, I found new ways to tell the stories I've been rehearsing in my head.  Her curriculum helped me find craft in the telling - artistry in the honesty - and a generosity with myself and the material that I hadn't found before.”

"Another Kind of Love Story"

Where did you learn how to love? What happens when love ruptures, grows stale, or dies? If you wrote your best friend’s eulogy today, what would you say? Would you read it aloud to them while they were still alive? An ode to the love stories that rarely get told, “Another Kind of Love Story” asks writers to examine their first memories of love, as well as the various forms of love within our lives. Inspired by Leslie Jamison’s debut memoir Splinters: Another Kind of Love Story, writers will craft metaphors and vignettes about tender moments that taught them love, envisioning a kind of love that liberates and leads us back to ourselves.

“Emily’s workshop series was more meaningful than I imagined. The intimate community was a safe haven for creativity and expression. It unlocked profound insight into my healing process and empowered me to share parts of myself I’d stifled away.”
